Raising over 3.3 million, the fundraiser for the museum’s scientific and educational programs was a great success, and we are proud to have been able to support one of the country’s greatest institutions.

I love my envirosax bags and gave them as Christmas presents. BUT I find the bag boys (and girls) at the grocery stores have a hard time loading them with groceries because they will not stand up by themselves and do not fit on any of the bag holders the grocery stores use for plastic bags. Would think it may be of help to fix these problems. Thanks

Hi Beverly,
Thanks for the comment and for your enthusiasm for Envirosax! People like you are making the difference that will turn around our environmental problems.
The main reason we don’t have a gusset is because unless you put a hard piece of card or plastic in the bottom of the bag, nothing will keep it standing up on its own. Of course, if you do that, then the bag would not roll up to the extremely compact size that it does and you would not be very likely to carry it with you everywhere and the positive impact on the environment would be minimal.
Good design is about making the right tradeoffs, and we feel that Envirosax have hit the sweet spot between capacity when in use and compactness when rolled up. So do thousands of others

Hi Beverly Ann,
I saw your post and I had to respond because I have found the same problem with Envirosax. I love Envirosax and they are very pretty, but I started using Rume bags because they have a square shape that make it easy to pack at the grocery store and they roll up so you can put them in your purse. They don’t need a plastic or card bottom like Glen talks about, so you are also not being un-environmental. Rume also comes in different sizes and many great designs. Sorry Glen, I still use my Envirosax occasionally, but good design is not about making the right trade offs, it’s about good design.
Kindest regards, Daisy

I have used my Environsax at several different grocery stores and not one bagger has had the problem described above by Beverly! They are very easy to use and many times they even ask where I got them. I am amazed at how much they hold and how convenient it is to stick just one in my purse or bring all 5 along for a weekly shopping trip. I gave them as Christmas presents to all my relatives, even my kids are using them now. Thank you for a great product.

i also have used my enviorsax a various stoes and have never had a problem of a bagger not being able to figure it out… it’s loading a bag, not rocket science. but i also tend to bag my own groceries/items. i think the design is perfect as is, and buy them for friends & family. i think they are both genius & beautiful…always get compliments on the sax! the design and size work much better for me than the rume bags…plus the patterns are much cooler.

These bags are the greatest!! We just started selling them in our shop, and our customers love them. This week when I went to the grocery store, I actually had the bags in my purse, and surprised myself when I said: I have bags! I would constantly forget my recycle bags either at home in the kitchen or in my car! This week when I got home I immediately unpacked, re-rolled and put them in my purse! My bagger had absolutely no issues getting a LOT of stuff in each bag!

Hi Melinda,
Thank you so much for your comments and for being an outlet for others to purchase or bags. The goal of our company is to make it as easy as possible for everyone to be eco conscious.
It is hard to imagine how often we use plastic bags. Not just in the grocery store but at the mall, take out food, convenience store, and so forth. Keeping your Envirosax with you is commendable and responsible. Thank you again for sharing your story with us and others on this blog.

I bought 7 envirosax a few months ago, and just have 2 left… my mom, my sis, my mother-in-law, a couple of friends..all wanting one….they are amazingly big and resistant….where I live environment-oriented mentality is still a “mirage” and when I use them at the supermarket, and tell the cashier I don’t want plastic bags (which not only fill up my kitchen drawers and city dumps….but cost € 0.05 each!!) they look at me as if I were from another planet, while I pull out my envirosax from my bag….. :-/
…has anyone bought the Slingsax? is the material different from the graphic Envirosax bags? I might be purchasing the Oasis prints to bring on vacation for summer shopping

Regarding the non-gusset design of Envirosax, we have an entry in our FAQ about this at http://www.envirosax.com/faq/#gusset.
The main reason we don’t have a gusset is because unless you put a hard piece of card or plastic in the bottom of the bag, nothing will keep it standing up on its own.
